Getting Around in Ukraine | ||
|
Getting Around in KievKiev has the usual (for Ukraine) mix of trams, trolleybuses, regular buses and "marshrutnys." A marshrutny is a smaller sized bus (or even a van, see photo above) that follows one of the same routes as a regular bus or trolleybus. However, it can stop anywhere you request on that route, as opposed to just at the designated bus stops. Marshrutnys cost a little more than a bus -- about 20 to 35 cents per ride, compared to a dime a ride for buses, trams, trolleybuses and the subway. A taxi ride within town will average about $6. Take a taxi, if you have lots of bags. Otherwise, you can take the metro right to the train station for 10 cents. The metro station you want is "Vokzalna."
