While in Lviv, take a day or two to visit another country -- Poland. The Polish city nearest to Lviv is Peremyshl (Przemysl in Polish).

How to get to Peremyshl, Poland

From Lviv, you can take a taxi directly to the Ukrainian border town of Sheguni for about 160 UAL ($32). On a budget? Go to the main train station and take a (a van or small bus) to Sheguni. They cost about 10 UAL ($2) and leave whenever they fill up, approximately every 20 minutes. The trip to Sheguni takes about an hour and a half. Then walk through the border stations to the small Polish town of Meduka. Visitors from the US and EU do not need a Visa to enter Poland, or to re-enter Ukraine, for visits of up to 90 days. Then take a Polish for the 15-minute ride to the city of Peremyshl. It costs 2 PNL ($1). The buses leave whenever they fill up -- about every 20 minutes or so.
