Attractions for Kids in Kiev - Part 2When traveling with children, be sure to plan some activities that make it special for them, too. Here are some ideas for entertaining the younger members of your party in Ukraine.Good Ole McDonald's PlaylandsThere are a number of McDonald's restaurants around Kiev, and in some other cities. Many of them have smaller versions of the Playland you're familiar with back home. If you're missing your American style (and quantity) of coffee, enjoy a large Americano at McDonald's while you kids scramble around the play structure. It's among the best coffee in town, and not expensive. Snowy or rainy weather? The play structure at the McDonald's at Livoberezhna is indoors. article continues below
Kids love trains and streetcars!Any boys traveling with you? What boy doesn't love to watch trains come and go. And better yet-- ride in one. Kiev still has many active streetcar (trams) lines. They cost 50 kopecks(about 10 cents) per adult -- and kids ride free. Or go to the trains station and take a ride on a real train. For much less than the cost of a ticket at your local zoo's train ride, you can ride a real train for hours. Caution: try to plan it so you won't be needing to use the bathroom on the train. To say the least, they're not up to Western standards. Plus, for sanitary reasons, they're all locked when the train is around a major city (like Kiev).
