When traveling with children, be sure to plan some activities that make it special for them, too. Here are some ideas for entertaining the younger members of your party in Kiev Ukraine.

Visit the Zoo

The Kiev Zoo is located a short walk away from the Shuliav'ska subway station. Here the kids will enjoy seeing lions, tiger, elephants, camels, monkeys, buffalo and lots more. Plus there is a play area for kids, with concrete statues of dinosaurs and other animals for kids to climb all over. They have a small "train" that goes around the grounds. There is also an amusement park area with a roller coaster, ferris wheel, and other rides. After working up an appetite, enjoy a "blini" break at the blini stand. (Blinis are thin crepes that they cook right in front of you. Choose from a wide variety of fillings to go inside yours: honey, jelly, sour cream, chocolate, cheese, chicken and lots more.

Ride the Funicular

Kiev has one special tram line that goes right up steep Vladymyr Hill. For this line, they have a special cable-pulled tram car called a funicular, built in 1905. It costs the same as any other tram (50 kopecks) and provides a fun lift for kids. At the top of the funicular, there is even a kid's playground with a nice panorama view of Kiev and the river Dnieper. You can buy an ice cream there to enjoy along with the view. Often, someone will be offering pony rides near the playground -- a great photo opportunity.
