Using the Internet in Ukraine | ||
|
Internet Access at the Post OfficeIt's not hard to find fast Internet access in Kiev. For one thing, many of the Post Office locations offer it. It costs around a dollar an hour, and you just pay for the time you use. (You leave a deposit before you begin, and then get your change when you finish.) Look for the blue and yellow "Poshta" sign. (It looks something like "nowta" in Ukrainian.) You can also print pages there for around 0.50 UAH a sheet.Internet Cafes ("Clubs")There are also private Internet Clubs, as they tend to call Internet Cafes in Kiev. They charge about the same. Here you'll pay in advance and get an access code. If you don't use all the time you paid for, come back another time and use the same access code. Internet Clubs usually have printers available too, for around 0.35 UAH per page. You can print files from a flash memory, CD-ROM etc., as well as files downloaded from the Internet.article continues below
Internet Cards for Dial-In ServiceThere are many services available, especially in Kiev. Buy one of their Internet access cards at the many kiosks offering them. (They are usually for sale at the same kiosks that sell telephone cards.)Cable TV Internet ConnectionsIf you are living in an apartment with cable TV, check into adding high-speed internet access. As of this writing, unlimited access to high speed internet via cable was available for under $30 per month (on top of the cable TV cost.)For a good (free) internet deal at a hotel, read Where to Stay.
