Internet Access in Kharkov

Ukrainian Post Office offering Internet access
Many Post Offices in Ukraine offer Internet access

Internet Access at the Post Office in Kharkov

It's not hard to find fast Internet access in Kharkov. Many of the Post Office locations offer it. It costs around a dollar an hour, and you just pay for the time you use. (You leave a deposit before you begin, and then get your change when you finish.) Look for the blue and yellow "Poshta" sign. (It looks something like "nowta" in Ukrainian.) The Post Office also lets you print pages for around 0.50 UAH ($0.10) a sheet.

Internet Cafes ("Clubs") in Kharkov

There are also private Internet Clubs, as they tend to call Internet Cafes in Ukraine. They charge about the same as the Post Office. Here you'll pay in advance and get an access code. If you don't use all the time you paid for, come back another time and use the same access code. Internet Clubs usually have printers available too, for around 0.35 UAH ($0.07) per page. You can print files from a flash memory, CD-ROM etc., as well as files downloaded from the Internet.

Internet Cards for Dial-In Service in Kharkov

Dial-in Internet access is also available in Kharkov. There are a number of companies offering the service. Some of them may require a domestic call to Kiev to connet. Buy one of their Internet access cards at the many kiosks offering them. (They are usually for sale at the same kiosks that sell telephone cards.)

Cable TV Internet Connections

If you are living in an apartment with cable TV, check into adding high-speed internet access. As of this writing, unlimited access to high speed internet via cable was available (in Kiev) for under $30 per month (on top of the cable TV cost.)
